Life Groups are vital to church life at Emmanuel! Our leaders/facilitators must be mature growing believers who can love others well as they mentor, disciple, and encourage their groups on to Christian maturity. Having a strong and consistent relationship with Jesus Christ, a humble and teachable heart, and simply loving people well, are the best qualifications! We are not looking for perfect people, nor those who have all the answers. Spiritual growth is a journey and being willing to help lead others along the way toward Christian maturity is key. Your goal will be to encourage your Life Group to grow in their life in Christ, to do life in Christ together with them, and to reach out to your spheres of influence to bring life in Christ to others. We hope you will consider serving in this all-important aspect of life at Emmanuel.
Training and any guidance needed will be provided and assistance in choosing Bible studies is also readily available!
In this role your responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
+ Meeting in a home, either yours or a host home, with 8-12 other Emmanuel Barrie church participants
+ Facilitating the discussion during your Life Group Bible study meetings
+ Shepherding those in your group – caring for them as individuals and in their walk with the Lord.
+ Praying regularly for them and with them.
+ Doing life with them both inside and outside the group as opportunities/needs arise to do so.
Commitment: 1 ½ - 2 hours once a week, or bi-weekly, as you and your group decide. The day and time are flexible. Attend two Life Group leader meetings a year to connect with other Life group leaders and discuss topical ideas re: leading Life Groups.
Requirements: A one-on-one meeting with Tracey Steffens, Director of Life Groups; be an attendee of Emmanuel for a minimum of 1 year; membership at Emmanuel.
